Back From Heaven -
Is Heaven Real?
I've always had blind faith. I've never needed proof of God's existence or that Heaven is real. Even if things don't make sense, I don't question it and that's a lot coming from someone with a science degree in Biology. Many people think that scientists are atheists, that isn't true. Science and mathematics show the divine perfection in our world and universe.
My Polish grandmother raised me in Detroit, with the help of my grandpa and uncle. I was raised Catholic. For grade school, I attended Catholic schools. I was never beaten by a nun, but I know some people who were. We lived in a neighborhood that was primarily Polish and families usually lived next door to each other or on the next block.
Visit to Heaven
In my thirties, I moved my grandma into my home to take care of her. One day, she needed my fiance and I to pick her prescriptions up from the pharmacy. We were supposed to be on our way to the mall for the day with family, but since they were running really late, we had time to pick her prescriptions up. We were gone for 20 minutes or so and when we returned I found her lying on the floor.
She was lying on the floor in the doorway between the kitchen and dining room. She looked as though someone had laid her down gently. Her arms were at her sides and legs perfectly straight. My grandma was blue, the color you might see in movies. I started CPR, while my fiance called 911. I had CPR class several years prior to this, but it all seems to go out the window when you're giving CPR to someone you are this close to. I did compressions on her chest and blew air into her mouth. I think I even tilted her head, but I forgot to pinch her nose. I screamed for her to come back to me. I kept up with the compressions, gave her breaths and screamed some more. She came back! My grandma was back and breathing!
With Loved Ones Who Passed
The first thing she asked was where is Tata (her Dad, who passed many years ago), and Dja Dja (my grandpa). I believe they greeted her in Heaven. She just saw them in Heaven and was confused as to where they went when I brought her back. The next thing she said was that she couldn't feel her arms and legs. All of the blood left her arms and legs to keep her organs alive.
The EMS finally arrived and were shocked that I revived her. Urine and stool were passed on the floor because she actually died. My fiance and I, went to the hospital to be with her. She died two more times while at the hospital. The potassium in her blood was extremely high and stopped her heart. The medication she was on for her heart didn't allow the potassium to leave her system. The doctors were shocked and said that it was a miracle that I brought her back to life and that I didn't fracture her ribs while doing CPR.
Sometimes Things Happen for a Reason
If our family members weren't running late, we would have been at the mall all day and we would have come home to find her long gone and that would have been devastating to live with. I always wanted to be at her side when she passed.
I'm very grateful that I brought her back, but heartbroken at the same time because her quality of life from the point on wasn't so great. She suffered from multiple myeloma for a year and I was able to be with her in my home while she held my hand and took her last breath.
